Koh Panghan is a beautiful island south of Thailand. Situated in the Gulf of Thailand Koh Phangan is sister island to the long time established tourist destination of Koh Samui that get visited by over one million tourists every year. Simmilar to it's neighbour island Koh Tao, Phangan was a while ago at first discovered by young people seeking an escape from the more developed island of Koh Samui and today, the island offers a large chooice of activities, parties, accommodation and alternative yoga resorts. As a natural eden-like place in the South-central Gulf of Siam, Ko Phangan serves as the unflawed getaway retreat. The Full Moon Party begun with a some people dancing on Haad Rin East Side more than 20 years ago. They had a beach party in the brightly moon light and an increasing amount of people turned up every full moon. Nowadays there are about 6000-14000 foreigners who are participating and dancing to psychedelic, disco, and other sound tunes.Skillful DJ's deliver the music from the bars at Haad Rin East Side and from the beach. Ko Phangan is an island of natural beauty and charm, an island, where you can have a holiday away from stress, lazy and relaxed or active and fast paced. Kohphangan has unnumbered natural beaches and coves, some only reachable by trekking over jungle paths or by hiring a taxi boat. Koh Phangan was before the backpackers destination, nowadays a 'broader range' of visitors arrives here. One thing most of them have in common is they want to find a relaxing and easy going place. The southeast part of Kho Phangan is the main party area including Had Rin and the fullmoon party beach. Nearly all of the area surrounding HadRin is mountainious making most of the beautiful fine white beaches unaccessable by road, the only way to get to them is by long tail boat from HaadRin. You can use the roads to HadRin, but you have been warned that the roads are not in the greatest condition and unless you are a competitant motorbike driver then do not try to get to Had Rin, as most accidents involving motorbikes happen in this area. Our advice is to leave your scooter at the 7/11 at Baan Tai and pay approx 40 Baht for a taxi over the hills to HaadRin.
